881, directed by award-winning filmmaker Royston Tan, is a raucous musical centred on getai performers during the annual Hungry Ghost Festival. Known for its loud colours, tacky lighting effects and elaborately costumed singers performing on makeshift stages in Hokkien, getai exists to entertain both the living and the dearly departed.

This redux draws directly from that visual excess. The colours and typefaces of the title block embrace ostentation — layered with textures and stardust — evoking a sense of spectacle infused with deliberate, nostalgic tackiness.

The XX&L “881” T-shirt is part of our bootleg series commemorating our 20th Anniversary. Available online and at our exhibition, 7–11 January 2026, OBJECTIFS Chapel Gallery.

Due to high demand, this shirt is now on pre-order.
Estimated dispatch: 15 February 2026.
