“Clothing is not only a cover for the body; it is the body’s social skin.”
— Roland Barthes, The Fashion System (1967)

Zero Point

From nakedness to denim, from skin to cloth — each shift transforms not just what we see, but how we see. Naked, the body is origin. In jeans, it carries history and labor; in a T-shirt, it dissolves into neutrality, yet remains deeply personal. Due to exhibition regulations in Singapore prohibiting the display of certain body parts, strips of masking tape playfully veil these areas — concealing while also drawing the eye, turning absence into a point of presence. Each choice — to reveal or to cover — belongs first to the self, not to the gaze of others.

When we look, what are we truly seeing — and what are we choosing not to see?

The XX&L “ZERO POINT” T-shirt is designed in collaboration with ND Chow, created as part of the ZERO POINT installation for XX&L — 20 YEARS OF TOM, DICK &LARRY Exhibition, held from 7–11 January 2026 at OBJECTIFS Chapel Gallery.

About ND Chow, Photographer
Born in Singapore, ND Chow relocated to Tokyo in 2000 to pursue his dream of becoming a portrait photographer, following two years of travelling the world in search of experience and self-discovery. Since then, he has photographed a diverse range of remarkable individuals across different fields, each encounter shaping his approach and deepening his understanding of the human spirit. His work is defined by an ability to create a space where subjects feel at ease, allowing moments of authenticity to emerge — revealing beauty, character, and vulnerability beyond the façade often associated with life in the public eye. These moments, he believes, are where the most enduring and meaningful images are found.
